Fishing · Brad Laabs Fishing Report - July 13, 2011

The weather is warm. The lake temperatures are up to the 70’s.

The fish are still on the bite. Largemouth bass are so active they are even grabbing the jigs and sucker minnows being jigged along weed edges for walleyes. So are the northern pike. Many fish are still relating to the weed bite.

Walleyes are still coming from the 13-22 ft water but look for some fish deeper as we continue with the warm weather and bright skys.

Big Detroit has produced some big walleyes over the past week. Pelican, Long (in Vergas), Island have also been producing. A length record 57” Muskie was caught on Lake Sallie a week or so ago. Sallie has to obviously be included with Big Detroit and Pelican as a consistant Muskie producer. Some are trolling , but most are pitching spinners and cranks for Muskie.

Big Northern Pike being caught off Sallie, Melissa and McDonald Lakes on high action baits.   Nice sunfish catches are coming off, Big & Little Detroit, Tamarac, Rock, and the Pines. Make sure to drain livewells, baitwells, pull your drainplug, and clean off your trailers after each outing.
