Fishing · Brad Laabs Fishing Report - March 27, 2012

Our lakes are ice free. Most lakes have been open for close to a week. They have been warming slow due to a major cold front and some cold overnight temps. Crappies will start moving shallow. Check out the shallow, darker lakes for the first biters. Shallow bays and current areas should also get some attention. Not many open water anglers have been out yet due to the cold front and high wind conditions of the last week. This weekend should start to get active with anglers and fish catches. I will be headed to Rainy River for the early season walleye action. Be careful launching boats. Most of our lakes are about 3ft lower than usual and the water is shallow at many of the public accesses.
