Regulations New for 1996

  • A resident may now select the period of time for a 24-hour license to be effective, and a non-resident may select the period of time for a 24-hour, 72-hour, 7 day, and 1 day license to be effective.
  • As of May 1, 1996, ALL BOATS, regardless of length, must carry one U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved wearable (Type I, II or III) life preserver (PFD) for each person on board. In addition, boats 16 feet or more in length (except canoes and kayaks) must also carry at least one U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved Type IV throwable device (boat cushion or ring buoy) for the boat.
